A bright chrome yellow species from the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico. These plants were grown from seed, and have clearly had a mixed parentage from the red in the tepals. There are a lot of new hybrid
Zephyranthes coming into cultivation at the moment, so it is difficult to judge the value of these.
Plant Delights say of Z./ citrina:
"This native to the Yucatan Peninsula is another of the commonly seen rain lilies in Deep South gardens, especially around TX.
This tough rain lily tolerates truly crappy soils, floods, droughts, and just about anything nature can throw its way.
The very narrow, grass-like foliage is topped with 8-10" tall stems of small, bright yellow, goblet-shaped flowers from midsummer,
although best flowering for us occurs from the late summer months to early fall."
