Weingartia candiae

I don't grow many of these small cacti now. While I still adore them, they do inspire occasional homicidal moments. I gave most of them away, let someone else suffer the consequences.
I got this as Sulcorebutia candiae but people are also growing it as Rebutia candiae. Whatever name you choose, it has splendid yellow-ochre flowers produced freely.

Plants of the World online says:

"The native range of this species is Bolivia. It is a succulent subshrub and grows primarily in the desert or dry shrubland biome."

Llifle encyclopedia says:
"Origin and Habitat: Cochabamba, Bolivia, South America. 2100-3400 metres above sea level.
It is closely allied and intergrades with Rebutia menesesii and Rebutia arenacea that grows in the same area. They may all be different forms of the same polymorphic species. There is a wide range of forms amongst the members of the Rebutia arenacea group."
