A low growing speedwell with yellow margined leaves and strong blue flowers. Discovered by Peter Briggs in Surrey in 1996. It has performed well in the UK
but trials by the University of Washington described it as resembling "a weed rather than an attractive ornamental plant." Unfortunate conclusion! Tellingly, this is the only picture I took of it. US Plant Patent: USPP17423-P2. RHS Plants say: "A compact, semi-evergreen variegated prostrate alpine perennial with dark green leaves and golden yellow margins, flushed red in winter. Erect spikes of small saucer-shaped blue flowers appear in the spring and summer." |
