A broad leaved form with tiger stripes similar to 'Kinroukaku' but with a green stem and yellow-green root tips.
My plant is not showing signs of the tiger variegation yet but this may be due to low light levels. It was originally found growing wild in Shizuoka Prefecture. Elite Orchids say: "A fabulous nice golden tiger variety, very similar in color pattern to Koganenishiki. When mature, these are almost idential to Kogane Nishiki with slightly more slender foliage. This batch is now showing nice bright yellow tiger variegation. This is about as colorful as yellow tiger variegated Neofinetia can get!" H. Matsuoka says: "Medium size, thick and wide leaf, bright yellow tora fu. Found in Toutoumi no kuni (old province name of Shizuoka Prefecture) in 1930. Moving history: Mr. Sugimura 1940 → Mr. Kenkichi Hiraoka → Mr. Seishichi Fujii. At first, this plant was very bright and less green, so this did not increase for 20-30 years, then began to put out babies gradually. Mr. Fujii took so much effort for many years to grow this variety. The direct translation is "slight golden light"." |
