Vanda falcata 'Kinkabuto'

A boldly variegated plant with a dark stem. The variegation can be unstable. My plant has a large green reversion growing on the side when it arrived, and I have potted it separately.

H. Matsuoka says:

"A bit nochizae yellow stripe. The stripe will get bright especially in autumn, it is said that this is the brightest yellow variety of all the yellow striped fuukirans. The direct translation is "golden (war) helmet". Mr. Ogawa in Ise no kuni (old province name of Mie Prefecture) found a wild fuuran in 1868 and was growing it. Mr. Fukushima bought it in 1880. Then bright yellow stripe appeared and he named it 'Kinkabuto'. Mother plant of 'Kinkabuto fukurin' and 'Jindai' which is a nakasuke konpuku variety."

Shoreguy writing on Orchid board in 2018 said:

"Kinkabuto (golden helmet) has the so called stripe variegation as opposed to marginal stripe, inner stripe, and chirifu (many fine stripes appearing somewhat “out of focus”).
What makes the stripe variegation interesting and preferred by many is that the variegation can vary markedly from leaf to leaf, even on the same growth."
