Tricyrtis 'Tojen'

A Japanese hybrid with pearly lilac spotless flowers. Very large foliage that makes an impact through the growing season, which serves to make the flowers look small, which is unfortunate."

Missouri Botanical Garden says:

"'Tojen' is a hybrid cultivar that typically grows to 24" tall and is noted for having much larger leaves than any other toad lily in cultivation and for unspotted flowers which are located in clusters (cymes) mostly at the stem ends. The small, lavender, orchid-like, yellow-throated flowers (to 1 inch long) are shaded lighter toward the center. Unusually large, oval to oblong leaves (6-15" long) with parallel veins and clasping leaf bases."

Plant Delights Nursery say:

"(aka: Tricyrtis 'Togen') If you like toad lilies, you are going to love this robust and easy-to-grow Japanese hybrid...perfect for moist or slightly dry shade. The gigantic foliage is nearly three times as large as most of the other tricyrtis species and remains attractive all summer. Tricyrtis 'Tojen' forms a massive 2' tall x 3' wide clump topped, starting in midsummer, with terminal clusters of unspotted orchid-lavender and white flowers with yellow throats...a BIG WOW! Unlike other toad lilies that seed a bit, this one takes after its reproduction-preventing namesake and will leave you with no unwanted offspring."
