Tricyrtis 'Lemon Lime'

Bright lime yellow foliage. The purple flowers are "interesting" but not very freely produced. It is also distinctive for its compact bushy growth. There is some debate whether the name is properly 'Lemon Lime' or 'Lemon and Lime'.

The Missouri Botanic Garden says:

"'Lemon Lime' is a compact, clump-forming cultivar that typically grows 16-24" tall on upright-arching stems and feature small, lilac-lavender, purple-spotted, lily-like flowers (1 inch long) and broadly ovate, stem-clasping, yellowish-green leaves (to 4-6" long) with light green banding. Flowers bloom on branching, wiry stems above the foliage in late summer. Each flower has six showy tepals (similar appearing sepals and petals)."

Writing in 'Pacific Horticulture', Dan Heims says:

"Tricyrtis ‘Lemon and Lime’ (syn. ‘Lemon Lime’) is clothed in golden foliage sometimes lined in green on stems that are shorter than most. This Terra Nova introduction with lilac flowers has some T. hirta blood in its parentage. (zone 5)"
