Tricyrtis hirta 'Minazuki'

The broad gold foliage has a thin dark green marking. The leaves are hairless (T.hirta var masamunei technically). The white are spotted with blue purple, but the effect is very clean, the dark colour doesn't bleed into the white ground colour.

I got it from Plant Delights Nursery. Their catalogue says:

"Tricyrtis 'Minazuki' (not to be confused with 'Miyazaki') is a delightful selection of the hairless Tricyrtis hirta var. masamunei from Kyushu, Japan. Narrow golden leaves adorn the 20" stems, forming a very compact small clump. As the summer progresses, the leaves develop a thin green border along with a few green streaks in the leaves. Starting in September (NC), Tricyrtis 'Minazuki' is adorned with pale lavender flowers, both terminally and in the leaf axils. Tricyrtis 'Minazuki' is the more stable form of the highly streaked Tricyrtis hirta 'Lightning Strike'."

In their catalogue for 2005, Asiatica said:

"A new and very beautiful tricyrtis from Japan. The leaves come up gold in spring, changing yellow and chartreuse with a dark green leaf margin and scattered green spots. The leaves are smooth, not hairy like normal Tricyrtis hirta. The stem is cream to pink. USDA zones 4-8."
