A vigorous form with very crisp flowers. The white tepals are eveny spotted with large, red-purple dots and flushed with reddish purple on the reverses. It grows very tall
, and then flops over in a leafy landslide. It will then produce flower buds from all of the upper leaf axils. It is an excellent plant, but you can't be too prissy about it.
Lincs Plants say:
"Tricyrtis formosana 'Purple Beauty' is a shade-loving perennial that adds a touch of elegance to shaded or partially shaded garden areas.
Characterised by its upright, arching stems and lance-shaped, dark green leaves, this cultivar forms dense clumps that provide structure and texture
throughout the growing season. From late summer through to early autumn, it produces clusters of star-shaped, white flowers adorned with purple spots and a yellow throat,
creating a striking display that attracts pollinators and adds visual interest to woodland borders, mixed beds, or containers.
Ecologically, 'Purple Beauty' is beneficial to pollinators, particularly bees, which are drawn to its abundant, nectar-rich flowers.
It thrives in moist, fertile, well-drained soil and is adaptable to various light conditions, including partial to full shade.
This cultivar is hardy in UK gardens and is well-suited for borders, woodland edges, or containers.
Its compact size and prolonged flowering period make it an excellent choice for adding vertical interest and supporting local wildlife."
