Stylidium debile

A species from Queensland and New South Wales that objected to life in the grenhouse once the cold weather started, and has come into a growing case to recuperate. It has also been suggested that the plant is an annual under natural conditions.

Rica Erickson says:

"A small plant with a slender stem crowned with a loose rosette of a few ovate leaves below which are scattered several lesser leaves."
Swampy ground or permanently wet places, black moorlands, near lakes along the coast of N.S.W. and Qld."

Sarracenia House say:

"The frail triggerplant, scientifically named Stylidium debile, is a herbaceous plant that is carnivorous and can grow up to 15-30 cm in height. The plant has oblong-shaped leaves that grow in a basal rosette with or without stems. The leaves are typically 8-30 mm long. This plant variety produces 1-2 hairless scapes per plant, which give rise to inflorescences that can be 10-25 cm long and contain pink flowers. These flowers bloom throughout the year in their natural habitat. Triggerplants are classified as protocarnivorous or carnivorous because of the glandular trichomes that are present on the scape and flower, which can ensnare, kill, and digest small insects with protease enzymes generated by the plant. The flower shape consists of four zygomorphic petals, with the trigger emerging from the 'throat' of the flower and resting beneath the plane of the petals."
