I was given some seedlings of this strain and so far this is how they have turned out. Large blue throated white flowers
and compact rosettes of leaves. The 'Crystal'series were bred by Dibleys. In 2003 Dibleys said in their online catalogue: "This is another excellent variety in the 'Crystal' series. 'Crystal Beauty' has all the good qualities of its sister variety 'Crystal Ice', but with cornflower blue flowers with deep purple lines in the throat. A good strong upright variety with narrow leaves." Writing in the JRHS in 2011, Tim Sandall says: "Streptocarpus Crystal series has winter-flowering species in its ancestry, making it capable of blooming all year round. This example, S. 'Crystal Beauty' is an upright plant with dainty, narrow leaves offering a good display of clear blue flowers with purple veins. For winter flowers, keep plants at a minimum of 10degC (50degF) and in full sun from November to February." |
