Stapelianthus decaryi

A small growing succulent from Southern Madagascar. Forms low, spreading mats of stems in time. It will need more warmth than I am able to provided but I thought it was worth a try, sometimes things are hardier than expected.

World of Succulents say:

"Stapelianthus decaryi is a small succulent that forms large, compact clumps of grey-green stems spotted with red-brown and covered with tubercles. The stems are erect to decumbent and can grow up to 4 inches (10 cm) long and 0.6 inches (1.5 cm) in diameter.
The flowers are chalice-shaped, creamy-yellow with maroon flakes and spine-tipped papillae in the upper half. They appear in late summer and fall and can reach up to 1 inch (2.5 cm) in diameter.
USDA hardiness zones 10a to 11b: from 30 °F (−1.1 °C) to 50 °F (+10 °C)."

Giromagi Cacti and Succulents say:

"Stapelianthus decaryi is native to Talanaro in the South East Malagasy Republic and is primarily found in Southern Madagascar near Anosy on the eastern shore of the Ranofotsy Lagoon. The species typically grows in open areas, often on gneiss rocks with an acidic substrate, and can be found in association with other succulent plants such as Rhipsalis baccifera ssp. horrida, Plecranthus sp., and poikilohydric species such as Coleochloa and Xerophyta dasylirioides."
