Selaginella martensii "Trago Green"

16th December 2006 16th December 2006

I think this is Selaginella martensii but I don't know enough about the genus to be confident. I got it from the plant section of a local discount store.

Plants of the World online say about S. martensii:

"The native range of this species is Mexico to Central America. It is a subshrub and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.

Graf says:

"martensii (Mexico), bold ornamental species, with broad, vivid glossy-green, scale-like, fleshy, almost hard leaves on much branched stems, upright at first, later sub-erect or creeping with young growth erect, supported by strong stilt roots."
