Selaginella kraussiana 'Aurea'

25th June 2006 12th September 2006

Pale lime growth, it isn't as vigorous as the typical form, but it has the advantage that it remains compact for longer. I bought it at a local Garden Centre and the label said:

"Krauss's Spikemoss. A very pretty mossy plant woth yellowish green moss-like foliage. Mx height 2cm. Max spread 20cm. Partial shade. Protect from very hard frost. Great for groundcover in shady areas."

Glasshouse Works say:

" "Golden Clubmoss" Short arching stems form bright mat; essential in any terrarium to brighten the design. While sometimes hard to distinguish from 'Gold Tips' in the summer, with winter temperatures and light intensities this tends to send out long 'fingers' of growth for a period mid-winter."
