Sarracenia x popei

Sarracenia (flava * rubra)

Sarracenia x popei is an excellent hybrid. At its best, it inherits the prolific pitchering of S.rubra and the large pitchers of S.flava, often with strongly coloured reticulated or parallel veining.
Hybrids with S.rubra rubra occur, mostly in South Carolina, and hybrids with S.rubra gulfensis are found in Florida. All of the possible hybrids have been produced in cultivation, though there is still plenty of scope for new hybrids using the various colour forms.
A pretty and reliable little plant, though it will never compete with some hybrids in terms of sheer size.
