A rather unfortunate deciduous azalea that stood around in a pot for many years before finally making it into the ground in 2021. The Missouri Botanic Garden plant finder says: "'Cecile' is a Knap Hill Exbury hybrid bred by Lionel de Rothschild that was introduced in 1947. Its dark salmon pink buds open into trumpet-shaped, 3 to 5 in. wide, salmon-pink flowers that have a prominent yellow flare on the upper lobe. 'Cecile' has an open upright habit growing 5 to 8 ft. tall and wide. It was one of the winners of the Rhododendron of the Year award in 2007 from the American Rhododendron Society. |
