Primula 'Maria Talbot'

1st May 2016 16th March 2017 6th March 2019
I bought it from Tale Valley Nursery. Their description says:

"Large dark pink flowers with small, smudged white centre and thrum eye. Best in a cool greenhouse with good ventillation where it can be protected from winter wet."

David Philbey writing in the Bulletin of the Alpine Garden Society says:

"'Maria Talbot' (h) [F. R. Shipton]. Large, burgundy, frilled flowers. Very broad petals, small smudged white centre. Thrum-eyed, early, easy, reliable. Superb colour."

Philip Bankhead writes on his Peninsula Primulas website:

"This is a European hybrid alpine of exquisite beauty. It is neat and strong growing with the most enchanting pink flowers which cover the foliage during March. If you have not grown alpine hybrid primulas this is the one to start with; you are sure to be successful! It can be grown well in pots, planters and troughs, but also as a specimen in the cold greenhouse."
