Primula 'Francisca'

24th April 2014 18th April 2015 9th May 2015
The greenest of the green primulas so far, mass produced and made available thanks to the wonders of micropropagation.

Val Bourne wrote in the Telegraph online:

"Looking like a highly bred lady in flounces and frills, it was spotted on a traffic island in Surrey, British Columbia, by Canadian gardener Francisca Darts. Surrey is known as the City of Parks, has a cool maritime climate similar to many parts of Britain, so primroses grow well there."

Plants Magazine in their 'New Plants' column added:

"UK Nurseryman Bob Brown of Cotswold Garden Flowers spotted it in Vancouver and tracked down the discoverer and asked her permission to name it after her. He is selling the plant wholesale and retail this year."
