Potentilla 'Gibsons Starlet'

18th March 2006 18th March 2006 26th July 2008
Potentilla 'Gibsons Scarlet' is a common and impressive border perennial with blood red flowers. Sooner or later, variegated forms were almost bound to turn up. This one is quite recent, but is now starting to appear in gardens.
Christened 'Gibsons Starlet', it has golden speckled and splashed leaves in addition to bright red flowers. The colour of the leaves is brightest during spring, and fades to green by mid summer.
The clumps divide quite rapidly, but it is worth selecting the best variegated parts to replant, as it can be a little unstable.
The flowers are just the same as the typical green leaved form.
