Plectranthus 'Plepalila' MONA LAVENDER

29th October 2006

A very vigorous hybrid Plectranthus, it grew fast, and seemed to flower itself to death. Didn't survive its first winter (under cover). I understand it is proving very popular in California, and southern Europe.
Bred by Roger Jaques at Kirstenbosch Botanic Garden in South Africa from a cross between P. saccatus and P. hillardiae ssp. australe 'Magwa'. Raised sometime in the late 1990's, it was released to the trade in 2002 under US Plant Patent PP13,858 which has now expired.
