Pinguicula heterophylla

9th August 2008 8th August 2009
I have only been growing this for a single season, and I haven't got the compost (pure silver sand) right, not least because it keeps draining out of the holes in the bottom of the pot. It has now gone into complete winter dormancy, and I do not know if I will see it again next year. If it has survived, then I will make some modifications to the compost.
It comes from the states of Oaxaca, Guerrero and Michoacan in the south of Mexico where it is recorded from Oak and Pine woods.
In cultivation it produces a distinctive, globular winter rosette, almost like a bulb, beneath the surface of the compost.
