Pinguicula gigantea

8th July 2008

A large growing species from low altitudes. I killed it last year in the cold, so I was already sure that it wasn't hardy, but it was overlooked in the greenhouse, and turned to mush as soon as the temperature dropped to zero.
Discovered by Alfred Lau near San Bartholome Ayautla, Oaxaca, Mexico, growing in full sun on a rock. He notes that the leaves are sticky and catch flies on both sides.
