Paeonia 'Pastel Splendor'

16th May 2022

An Itoh peony, the flowers open pale pink and then fade to white (I am assured). I bought it because it is very lovely, will work well in the garden, but primarily because it was cheap.
Raised by R. F. Anderson and Wm. Seidl and registered in 1996. An F2 seedling from P. 'Martha W.'. P. lactiflora 'Martha W.' is a pale pink seedling, possibly from 'Monsieur Jules Elie', that has been remarkably fertile when crossed with tree peonies. It was registered in 1985. Many of the newer intersectional peony hybrids are derived from it.
