Microsorum musifolium 'Crocodyllus'

2nd July 2006

One of the more obscure ferns, it has recently been mass produced as a house plant. It is struggling here in a cold greenhouse, and really needs some extra warmth. Will tolerate some dryness at the root as long as it is humid. The leaves are supposed to resemble the skin of a crocodile. Perhaps somewhere in the world there is a population of crocodiles that moisturise every night before they go to bed and have smooth shiny skin. Perhaps David Attenborough just hasn't visited them yet, who knows...
