Liriope muscari 'Big Blue'

11th October 2006

The various forms of Liriope muscari make excellent ground cover in shade, though they are a hundred times better if it is light shade, and in a decent soil. My stock if typical L.muscari has persisted for 20 years in a bone dry bed at the foot of a large Pittosporum in total shade, but persist is all that could really be said of it.
At the risk of swimming against the tide, I am becoming a little bored with plants that do 'exactlty what it says on the tin' - this one is without question, big (blue is a little optimistic). Perhaps a suitable name might have emphasised what an excellent thing that was!
