Ipheion uniflorum 'Froyle Mill'

Archive entry 02.01.11

8th April 2007

The darkest flowered blue purple form to date.

Originally discovered by Mrs O.Taylor-Smith at Froyle Mill, Alton, Hampshire, it is also the most reliably early flowering for me. It will produce a good autumn show in most years if many-flowered is the criterion for good. The earliest flowers are always usually a rather washed out colour and won't develop the full purple until the spring sun hits them.
