A bright red member of a genus better known for blue flowers.
Hailing from the Andes in Ecuador and Colombia, it has some tolerance of cold.
I have it planted in the Hedychium House and although it may be cut to the ground in winter I have been
told that it will probably survive and shoot from the base in spring.
