Homoglossum watsonianum is a charming red flowered bulb from South Africa, and when it is crossed with Gladiolus tristis it produces these delightful hybrids!
In the carnival of naming things rarely remain stable for long, and so it has been with Homoglossum. Rather like that last mouthful of Christmas turkey, it has been squeezed into the bloated body of Gladiolus and so technically, these are no longer intergeneric hybrids, but I am going to keep the name until it is quite clear that Gladiolus isn't going to burst!

When I bought the plant, I got a great potful of bulbs, and I don't know if it was a single clone or a potful of seedlings, so I don't know if this is the same plant as last year, behaving differently now it is established, or a yellower seedling flowering.
