Hedychium 'Tai Empress'

The "Tai" series of hybrid Hedychium were all raised by Doyle Smittle, previously of the University of Georgia and selected for their floral impact. They are slowly being distributed more widely.

The description from Plantation Gardens says:

"Robust plants are 5-6 feet tall with glaucous blue-green leaves having red along the midribs of the leaf undersides. The 5-7 inch terminal inflorescence produces 40-50 salmon pink, 2 inch butterfly shaped blossoms having dark pink centers and pistillate structures."

I can confirm that it is robust!
