Hedychium spicatum 'Singalila'

3rd September 2005

Collected by Bleddyn and Sue Wynn-Jones on the Singalila Ridge in northern India and introduced under collection number BSWJ2303.

A splendid form with distinctive red flushed undersides to the leaves. The brighter the light, the darker the colour, though it can burn in full sun, and in the poly tunnel last year it was a martyr to red spider mite (though a higher humidity would have helped).
