Forsythia suspensa 'Variegata'

11th April 2015

One of the ancient plants in the garden, I put it in when I moved here because I had nowhere to keep it in a pot. It grows in the boundary hedge and it has irregular gold splashes on the leaves but is otherwise uninteresting.
At least, I think it still has irregular gold splashes on the leaves. I haven't noticed it in leaf for decades because it just blends into the general vegetation of the hedge. I only notice it when it flowers, and even then only if I drive up the hill past it, I rarely notice it from inside the garden.
I must make a special effort.
It is also possible that over the years it has reverted to green. I have had it for so long that I don't even remember where I got it.
