Erythronium 'Jeanine'

26th April 2013

A hybrid assumed to involve E.californicum and E.tuolumnense raised by W.P. van Eden, introduced by Michael Hoog in 1984.
I am the first to accept my ignorance in the ways of Erythronium but I think I have seen two clones in cultivation that differ slightly. The first is paler yellow than this to my eye and remains yellow as it ages. My plant is a richer yellow and the tips of the petals have a pink tinge on the reverse that develops as a faint blush throughout the fading flower.
Alternatively, my fading eyesight may have misled me.
