Elaeagnus x ebbingii 'Gilt Edge'

15th March 2001

An old picture of one of the brightest selections. It is also one of the slower growing forms which means that even in the shade of a tree it has remained compact and not hoisted itslf upwards on long scranbling stems like so many of the green forms.
Gone now of course, my patience with Elaeagnus wore thin at about the same time as my hair, and hardly any remain.
Trees and Shrubs online note:
"Raised by Messrs Waterer, Sons and Crisp, this variety received an Award of Merit when shown by them on October 26, 1971."
