Dasylirion wheeleri

23rd September 2020

A broad leaved species with blue leaves that can form a trunk in time.
None of which you could guess from this one. It has been sitting around in a pot for many years - I can't even remember why I acquired it but I couldn't find anywhere to put if. After a winter underneath a bench it was a matter of plant it somewhere or accept that it was dead. I put it out on the south wall of the house taking advantage of a space left by a dead Protea. I wasn't expecting much because it looked as though the central growth point had already died, however it has done well, produced some new leaves in the centre and it may well survive if the winter is kind.
