As far as I can see, all of the commercially available named stocks of Crocus speciosus are the same thing. Other named selections are grown, but they don't seem to have made it to the mass market. The species is so wonderful that perhaps it doesn't matter.

An odd flower that popped up in the grass to demonstrate that it hadn't entirely died out in the garden, it was just "resting".
A widespread and vigorous species from Turkey, the Caucasus and Iran, it is astonishing that it will tolerate my wet summer climate at all, I can't really expect it to prosper. An occasional survivor suggests that I might be able to modify conditions enough to suit it but I haven't been successful to date.
