I have a few hedges of Acer campestre that keep the wind under control. They are quietly attractive, and I have planted a few Clematis on them to
get them to shriek a bit in the summer. So far it has all been very restrained, but when the Clematis reach the top of the canopy it is going to get louder.

The flowers are neither the largest nor the pinkest that the species can produce, but it is reliably delightful as it is exuberant in growth.
