Cladophora aegagropila

I get attracted to oddities, so this unusual species of alga was too good to miss. The wave action in its native lakes (most famous from Japan, but actually quite widespread)
encourages the formation of these curious balls. In a tank, it needs a good powerhead keep the water moving vigorously or it spreads out into a carpet.
