A variable strain of hybrids between C.sieboldii and C.discolor. I bought this one in flower, and it remains to be seen if I can get it to repeat the performance.

It is cheering to have it flower for a second year. I was starting to think I was the only person who couldn't get them to flower. When I look at the plants that appear at the shows, they all seem to be first year imported plants. I see very few established clumps that flower reliably, so I think there is a cultivation problem still to solve (at least there is here).
The Japanese hybrids that are starting to appear in the UK seem to be more vigorous than the species and to flower more freely (but that observation is based on very limited evidence).
