A very old hybrid with thick fleshy leaves that make it very tolerant of shade and drought. As a houseplant
it is often found languishing but refusing to die, in some dark drafty corner.
Given better growing conditions, it is a wonderful lush foliage plant, and produces clouds of small pink flowers.
Sometimes called the Beefsteak Begonia because the leaves have deep red undersides.
