Alpinia japonica kinsiana 'Peppermint Stick'

I am not quite sure what this is, there is some confusion about the name. Alpinia x kinsiana is a hybrid between A.intermedia and A.japonica,
not a form of A.japonica. If it flowers, it is possible that things will become a little clearer. I bought it because I didn't know the name (and now I know why!)
I have retained the name it arrived with until I know better.
