Agave americana 'Mediopicta Alba'

6th September 2009

The white centred form of the species. Very beautiful when it is perfect, but easily damaged by cold and slow to recover.
Sometimes listed simply as 'Mediopicta' and often confused with the (much rarer) yellow centred form.

Planted up in the Agave house where its generally compact habit means that it might have a reasonably secure future. I had a sudden attack of good taste, and planted it with the pink Pelargonium 'Splendide' and the purple leaves of Oxalis triangularis ssp. papilionacea. Shockingly, it worked out quite well.
