Perfect little button shaped flowers. Sometimes they are irritatingly perfect. The plant is sterile,
so it is difficult to breed new colours or leaf patterns with the same flower form, but others are now
beginning to appear.
The plant has a long and confused history, but all roads seem to lead to E.A.Bowles. In 'My Garden in Spring'
published in 1914, he mentions a double Lesser Celandine that blooms as the native single is fading, but he
only mentions one form. He would probably have mentioned its distinctve flowers if he was referring to this one,
so it is probably a later discovery.
