Anemone apennina 'Double Form'
21st April 2006
The typical species is a delightful spring flowering woodland plant, which is often recommended for growing under shrubs in the garden, although to be honest I find it rather sulky
in shade, and it does a lot better in the sun.
I am not certain of the proper name for this form, it seems to me to be bluer and more densely petalled than the form distributed as 'Canon Ellacombe'. The ring of green petals
in the inner ruff are also different.

It seems to perform well in a pot, if it made large clumps in the garden, it would somehow be a little less wonderful (or am I just being perverse?).
