Smilacina trifoliata 'S30'
6th June 2006
If you have looked through the other pages, you will have realised that Smilacina names are in a bit of a pickle at the moment. The entire genus has just been moved into Maianthemum
, which shouldn't really present a problem, but at the same time a number of new plants have arrived from China, and collectors have introduced a number of previously unseen
species from central america. Perhaps someone clever will come along and sort it all out for us (theres always hope)!
And in the meantime, I have no idea what to make of this plant. I can't find an authority for the name S.trifoliata, the closest I can get is S.trifolium, which has single flowers
and clearly isn't this plant.
It came from China, it is quite charming and it has pubescent stems.
