The Iridaceae is a monsterously large family. I only grow a few of the genera to excess. I have always struggled with Iris itself. During some years I am enchanted with them, and then the following year I will want to compost them all. It is an ongoing struggle. The real sticking point is the Bearded Iris, which just don't like my moist shady hillside. I enjoy all of the others!
