Lachenalia aloides is one of those wonderful bulbs that you run into from time to time, and after a few weeks you wonder how you ever lived without it. I first grew it in my teens,
and a couple (ha ha) of years later it is still delighting me. It has everything that a good plant needs. It flowers easily in the darkest days of winter with bright
yellow blooms. All it asks is to get some light and be protected from frost.
