Asarum maximum
A wonderful plant in a pot, I have yet to try it in the ground. Astonishing black and white flowers in spring. This plant has plain green leaves and is quite vigorous. There are a range of different leaf forms in circulation, and they are starting to attract cultivar names. This green one came from Fir Tree Plants , but similar plants are being distributed as Asarum maximum 'Green Panda'.
This silver leaved plant was propagated by tissue culture in the USA, and is now widely distributed.
This pretty form with silver reticulate leaves was sent to me as Asarum hartwegii, so I was a little
suspicious when it turned out to be evergreen, but the flower clinched it!
