... out in the garden.

29th April 2007

Paeonia mascula russoi .
Wisley can usually be relied on to produce something wonderful and unexpected. This Paeony on the alpine beds caught my eye. Most of my Paeonies in the garden here live in pots but I have just planted many of them into the new herbaceous border. Weather and rabbits permitting they may appear here later in the season!

29th April 2007

Pinguicula vallisneriifolia .
I arrived home to discover that this sweet little butterwort had opened while I was away. It has a very limited distribution in the south of Spain, where it is very choosy about its habitat, but seems to adapt reasonably well to cultivation.

29th April 2007

Moraea huttonii .
A very striking large flower - this is the first time that I have flowered it. It started at the beginning of the week and has opened flowers every day since, even through the rain.

29th April 2007

Drosera stelliflora .
I can't go to a Carnivorous Plant Society meeting and not come back with something delightful - it wouldn't be fair. This gorgeous little Australian sundew is tiny enough to be overlooked, but that would be a great pity.
